I have a message here from Melinda Myers regarding Elbert's 94th birthday:
It will be for Elbert (94) and Jerry (82). Graham Street Church of Christ annex building. This is where Elbert had his Purple Heart reception. January 14, 2012 @ 2:00/4:00, and if you want to hang out at the house after 4:00, go to 780 Alexander Road, Stephenville.  No gifts, mom said "just hugs". The main thing is to celebrate Elbert's 94th birthday. If you want to add their phone number that would be great too for any questions: 254-965-5990, and cell:254 396-0013. If you have questions or I've made this as clear as mud, reply or you can always call me at 254-485-4050. Thanks again, Melinda Myers

Charles Nathan Lindley Jr. - Passed 11/22/11

Charles Nathan Lindley, Jr.
Family and Friends,

It pains me greatly to have to have to make this post… My father, Charles Nathan Lindley Jr., passed away on the night of November 22nd, 2011, at the age of 68. As such I want to inform his loved ones of the arrangements that have been prepared for him.

A memorial service with military honors will precede Chuck’s internment at the Dallas / Fort Worth National Cemetery. This was originally scheduled for Tuesday, November 29th, but due to complications related to the death certificate paperwork, we have had to postpone the internment until a later date. I will contact everyone as soon as I have additional details.

Flowers are not necessary given that this is a National Cemetery, but if you prefer donations in Charles Lindley’s name can be made to The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund.

Below you will find the obituary that has been submitted for Chuck in the Dallas Morning News, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, and the Eastland County News:
========================================
Obituary Text:
Keller: Charles Nathan Lindley Jr. passed away on Tuesday, November 22nd in Dallas, TX.
Memorial: A memorial service with military honors will precede Chuck’s internment at the Dallas / Fort Worth National Cemetery on Tuesday, November 29th, beginning at 10:30AM. Attendees should queue in lane A at the site for the precession to the committal gathering.

Charles Nathan Lindley Jr., known as “Chuck” to his friends and family, was a decorated service member, having served during the Vietnam War in the Army’s 173rd Airborne Brigade. His commitment to his country and his family were elements that defined his life. Chuck was a leader among his peers and a self-made entrepreneur, who managed and owned many businesses, including the “Bonanza Steakhouse” in River Oaks, TX (subsequently “Chucko’s Restaurant”) and the “Burgers ‘N’ More” restaurant in Ranger, TX, among other ventures. He loved life and raising his family, and did everything within his power to ensure that he never missed the yearly Lindley Family Reunion. Chuck enjoyed the twilight years of his life in retirement in Mexico, where he had many friends and loved ones south of the border as well. He will be extraordinarily missed by all those who knew him. As sung by Willie Nelson in Chuck’s favorite song, “Love is like a dying ember, and only memories remain.” We love you Chuck, and you will never be forgotten.

Survivors: Charles is survived by his brothers Billy Ray of Weatherford, and David Allen of Ranger, sister Evelyn Delores , sons James Britt and wife Kara Lee of Keller, Eric Philip and wife Lisa Michelle of Fort Worth, and Charles III, four grandchildren and a huge number of loving family and friends. He was preceded in death his brothers Edwin Eugene, Martin Britt, and Clifford Lee, and his parents Charles Nathon and Fannie Lee.

If you have questions or concerns please call me at 817-703-1822. Thank you for being Chuck’s friend, and thank you for your kind thoughts. Our hearts are broken, but Dad’s memory will help us carry on.

What I'd like for everyone to do is click "comment" on this post and let us know who is joining us this year. It will be great to learn of all the family members we can expect to see at Possum Kingdom Lake in a couple of weeks. So that's it, just comment and list who's coming and we'll see you soon!
